+ An invaluable teleporting ability (not sure I will be able to play Crimsonland now.), so that you are much more mobile. Now let me compare the game with Crimsonland, assuming you played it. Perfect to get instant and guaranteed fun for a limited time. Verdict: a solid twin-stick shooter, maybe a bit overpriced (half the price would have been fairer given it's pretty short). Stupid "daily quests" which feel like a mobile port The achievements are incredibly uninspired (kill X monsters of that type, finish the game in every difficulty setting.). In its actual state, it's basically a list of successive levels, but split out in a weird way on a city map. Extreme linearity in the sequence on missions while one could have easily added some degree of freedom and dummy overall "quests" on the map where you select your level. There is also a survival mode but it doesn't shine much. The game is about two hours long for the campaign on the easiest difficulty level (out of three), which you need to get through to unlock the other difficulty levels. The perk system is annoying most of the time. There is not that much diversity in enemies and arenas. It gets repetitive pretty fast (but not less addictive!). As a rule, the whole Tesla/Lovecraft thing is much underused. but then, you would expect something more and yet the game seems to basically forget its setting for the most part. + The game takes less than 200Mo on your computer and runs on any machine (but then, it's a basic top-down shooter). + There is a decent variety of enemies and arenas. + There is a good diversity of power-ups, perks (level-permanents bonuses such as more speed or more health), and weapons. + Large-scale RPG-like progression (you attribute crystals to a small diversity of enhancements). + There is a teleportation ability which adds a more hectic and fast-paced layer to the core gameplay of twin-stick shooting. and his army of Chtulhu-mythos inspired monsters. If you're not like me and "Tesla vs Lovecraft is an intense top-down twin stick arena shooter from the creators of Crimsonland" has not gotten you convinced already, then read below (note that there will be two parts: a review of the game as it stands by itself, and a comparison with its predecessor Crimsonland). Crimsonland did well, so obviously there is a market for that. This is only worth fifteen bucks if you love zoning out and fighting waves of enemies. It'd be cool if there was even more environmental destruction. Need someway to add 'oomph' to the buffs. In one regard it's great that you pummel the player with upgrades, but it also makes them feel meaningless. Also to note, I have not died (or come close) in the first hour. In fact I just pick without even looking now. And I quickly stopped caring about what buff I took, because lets face it - they are all positive. Here are some constructive comments for the devs after an hour of playing: Look, at this point I'll buy anything 10Tons puts out - but don't get it twisted - I'm always looking for the next Neon Chrome-level of addiction. What do I think of fighting wave after wave of enemies? It's a fairly brain-dead excercise compared to meticulously perfecting builds in say Neon Chrome.
